What Are You Doing For Valentine's Day?

Do you have big plans for Valentine's Day? Are you spending it with a loved one? Or is February 14th just another day for you? My husband and I never go out for dinner on Valentine's. BUT this year I decided to surprise him and made some chocolate covered strawberries for dessert tonight. The boys will be surprised also as these days I don't often make dessert except at the weekends.

Whatever your plans, Happy Valentine's Day!

Food, Glorious Food

While in the UK recently, we purchased last minute tickets to see the show "Oliver" in London. Given that we seem to have been eating way through the UK, the theme song "Food, Glorious Food" seemed appropriate. Actually, it was rather a case of the boys experimenting with foods they hadn't tasted before in Canada. Not necessarily healthy foods, but tasty!

We thought Tim Horton's had a huge assortment of donuts, but this vendor in Camden Market beat them!

No, girls love them too - I can vouch for it!

Easter Nest Chocolate Treats

This past weekend I made some chocolate Easter nests for the children and a few of their friends. I know it was a week before Easter but they're such fun to make and to eat too!

They're very easy. You melt the milk chocolate with a little butter and then mix the melted chocolate with cornflakes. Then use the mixture to make little nests (on wax paper so they come off easily). Lastly, pop a few little chocolate Easter eggs in the nests. Leave them for a couple of hours so the chocolate hardens. Voila! You have some yummy Easter treats!

Pastel Shades - Jewelry That Looks Good Enough To Eat

Happy Friday everyone. Yes, the weekend is almost here!

I've posted a couple of new necklaces to my Etsy shop in the last couple of days. I think the fact that they're in pastel shades and look like little candy covered chocolates, make these necklaces wonderful Easter gifts!

It's a Lovely Day Here

The sun is shining and it's a high of 9 degrees which to some of us in the north, seems like a heat wave! Had a lovely 4-5 km walk to mail our tax returns. They owe us money so there was an incentive to get them done!

I've even posted some new pieces of jewelry in my shop the last couple of days as I know I won't get much work done over the weekend. Too busy inhaling chocolate!

Hope you're Easter egg hunting too this weekend. Have a good one!

Happy Birthday to YOU!!!!!!!!

It was my youngest son's 9th birthday yesterday.  He had a party last week, so yesterday was relatively quiet.  They skiied all day and then came home to a raclette meal.  For those of you who aren't familiar with raclette, it's a swiss cheese.  You slice it up and each person grills their own cheese which they then eat with potatoes, fresh bread, ham..whatever you like.  It's very social and lots of fun and the boys love it.

I made an ice cream cake by using vanilla and chocolate icecream and throwing in some crushed Skor bars and Malteasers.  What a sugar fix!  No junk food for me for the rest of this week.  I love the candles I put in the cake.  Can't remember where I bought them but they're so lovely and bright and burn for ages.
